Opening credits research

The main reason for an opening sequence is for the audience to attach themselves to the characters, key importance is the representation of the characters; including age and genre, also the genre of the film. These are a range of opening sequences that can help us as a group develop our ideas on what we want to put into our opening scene and also how we can make it better.

Skyfall opening credits

The first credit we see is the production team 'Albert R. Broccoli's Eon productions LTD' followed by the main star 'Daniel Craig'. Then the title of the film is introduced whilst it appears that the main character is falling through the sea. The background song is an iconic chart hit that includes the title in its song 'Skyfall'. It is also sung by a well known singing 'Adele' therefore giving the opening credits instant recognition. This is then followed by the other cast members and who wrote the film etc.
In our film we have put the distribution and funding company 'BFI' first on our open credits followed by the director and producer. We the have put the names of our starring characters on screen as they appear so it is clear the audience who the main character names are.

Women In Black

Our opening sequence to introduce the two younger girls is based on the women in black sequence where by the three little girls are playing with dolls and having a tea party. They are smiley and laughing and the film use contrapuntal sounds to add to the horror
of the clip, which is why we directed our characters to do the same. We also did the set based on the clip as they are in a stereotypical girls room for the period it was set in, as did we.
